MANITOBA TIPI MITAWA HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM

APPLICATIONS RECEIVED ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS

Applications will be received on a first come, first served basis and are also available through the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs website at www.manitobachiefs.com.

The Manitoba Real Estate Association and Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs created Manitoba Tipi Mitawa Inc, in partnership with the Province of Manitoba and the Government of Canada, and are now launching Phase 2 of the program for Manitoba First Nations home ownership.

Manitoba Tipi Mitawa was created to address the growing affordable housing issue, and help First Nations Manitobans buy their own homes. Manitoba Tipi Mitawa assists with the most difficult part of purchasing a first home, the down payment.

Manitoba Tipi Mitawa provides up to a 15 per cent down payment and a generous monthly subsidy towards the mortgage costs of a modest home when purchased for $180,000 or less. This helps families to begin building equity, live in a community of their own choice, and to establish stability for their children. Phase 2 of the program is now open to seven to nine families. Each family will have a stabilized total household income of no less than $25,000 and no more than $54,016 to enable them to buy a home of their own within the City of Winnipeg limits. Three families from Phase 1 are currently enjoying the benefits and security of home ownership, while creating equity with a better quality of life overall.

The selected families will be entitled to a comprehensive money management and home maintenance program which will prepare them for the responsibilities of home ownership. After completion of the program, each family will be matched with a REALTORŪ who will help them find their ideal home.
